Managing "public services" from a business perspective

To date, "public services" have been seen as something provided by government, but the idea of "new public services" that include private enterprises, NPOs, and other groups has spread in recent years. In the Department of Public Affairs, students investigate the current state of public service in an era of public-private cooperation. Learning is advanced from a broad perspective about industry, tourism, environmental conservation, welfare, sports, leisure, amusement, etc., and the ability to manage public services from a many-sided point of view is acquired. As it can be presumed that public service provided by private enterprise will continue to increase from here on, prospective students can consider a future involved in work that is fulfilling and offers a clear purpose in life featuring a high degree of social contribution.

Public service is indispensable in order for us to feel secure and to live our lives safely and comfortably.
The Department of Public Affairs examines public service provided by national and local governments and NPOs, as well as social contribution by business and individuals, all based on business administration. Thought is also placed on high quality public service that leads to revitalizing the local community.

Aim at nurturing individuals who can be actively involved in social contribution

Abundant opportunities posed by "contact with others" and "real-life experiences" are employed in training that enables students to practice, out in the community, the knowledge and theory that they have learned in class. We aim at heightening their communication skills--the very foundation of public service--and at nurturing individuals who can be actively involved in social contribution as a government official or in an NPO, in a business, etc.
